add links restriction prohibits restoring of previous versions

bug category general

Jochen: The page WikisThatUseErfurtWiki has been overwritten by a spammer (replaced with only one link). If I try to restore the previous version I get the message:

Sorry, but adding links to this page is restricted to a certain amount.
You reached it, and therefore page saving was cancelled.

If you're a bored link spammer, this is message is for you:
*hehe*, *laugh*
Happy Death!

That can not be what we want...

mario: Happened to me a lot of times lately, too (when restoring a corrupted link directory). I'm however uncertain how to fix it.

  • Maybe the CAPTCHA should engage in such cases and allow proceeding.
  • Or a riddle should occour ("what is 27 * 5 + 32 ? *....")

It is the most useful anti-spam plugin, but if it requires you to constantly disable it in the config/setup script, it defeats its purpose (making it easier to deal with spambots).

I believe one of the trigger plugins could help here (disable the check if you already have proved you're an human). It's only that this would ease specifically crafted spambots to succeed again.

Jochen: Hi Mario, a riddle? What are you talking about?*g* If it's easier for a human spammer to damage something as for you/me to repair it... it must be wrong. Why not simply allow the restoring of previous versions without limitations? The page was valid in the past so it should be ok.

No idea how to implement that. Maybe restore directly (without display edit page)? You know that better than I:o) Btw: Have a quick look to my question in the SandBox, please.
