ewiki can redirect users to foreign sites, if it detects to be called with an InterWiki page name, like [...wiki.php?id=WardsWiki:WelcomeVisitors]. This makes it partially suitable for general name resolving, and combined with its PublicallyEditableIntermap makes it useful as gateway.
Supporting Wikis can make use of this and make users browsers round-trip through multiple Wiki installations, to make use of their more or less updated InterMaps:
