InterWiki once was thought as an active connection between all Wikis to form an interchange network of Wiki servers (pages could go anywhere, without letting the user now). As Wiki:InterWiki explains this was to difficult, and today Wikis only use the InterMap to have shortcuts to other Wiki namespaces.
ewiki already supports:
- an InterMap (a small builtin, but an extension list available)
- a PublicallyEditableIntermap
- InterWikiJumping - which suits ewiki for gateway use
it is intended to develop:
- an extension to make use of the MetaWiki: database
- *NearLinks
- *SisterSites and *SisterPages
- collect *InterWikiIcons (only if PublicDomain)
resources:
- *InterWikiSoftware:
- FeatureWiki:CategoryInterWiki
This is useful for example to have an *IntranetWiki and a *PublicWiki for your company, which nicely connect their pages to each other.
