I still don't like the front page

who?

(please delete this page - it is just a comment)

done.

The Main Menu Plugin is flat, very very flat. The main menu is so flat that it can't be called a 'Menu'. It has an absolute minor position with nearly no content (5 links)

milky: It's actually around 12 links, but as the IE is outdated you probably cannot see it! (just a guess, but sure I'm right on this)

Hello I'm using IE
I don't think IE is outdated. I think EWiki just can't cope with IE. It is a problem of EWiki (just a guess, but sure I'm right on this). Wikis are produced for browsers / mainstream / and all that shit. But not the other side down. From this viewpoint EWiki has to do something on the menu-problem. Heinz

http://evolt.org/ has a nice article about why the IE7 will not arise all that soon (in 3-4 years).

milky: IE over the years outdated like NN4 once did. It does not fully implement CSS 1.0, this is a fact and this is the problem here. The workaround was to use *StupidScript, but I wouldn't call that a solution. Recently I just started to code for standards, and everybody who doesn't want to upgrade from NN4 or IE6 just has to take it like it is. I'm just not interested in workarounds anymore.

Of course I also could code some ActiveX or VirusBasic into this site to let it automatically install Mozilla onto your HDD and replace IE fully (there is an IE-Skin for Mozilla), but like for ewiki I'd rather let users the choice ;)

Again your problem is in the CSS which IE does not understand. I use the text-only browser w3m, and I don't have any problem to see the whole MainMenu - it even works in the Mosaic browser from 1992 or very very old DOS browsers. It's just IE that never gets it; can't you see the problem here?

On the other site there are blocks to links (examples, database tools, internal pages, a calender) wich are the real main menu.

You should decide for one.

The actual layout is just a no-layout

milky: That silly MainMenu was never minded to appear there, it was just added to stop that annoying and ongoing FrontPageGarbaging. There is no need for such things in hypertext systems. Users only demand it, because of the multitude of '95-style "portal"-sites.

I'll again say, what I always tell about it. ErfurtWiki is a Wiki library/engine, and it only cares about WikiPages - anything else (layout) does not belong to ewiki (again: see example-2, this is what the Wiki produces).

The whole http://erfurtwiki.sourceforge.net/ site is about demonstrating how it works, and not how it should look. If you cannot manage to setup your own layout around it (even if there are 4 paragraphs in the README about this issue), then it is undoubtly your problem.

Despite this, the yellow layout is in fact a good example on how to do it: WAI conformance and reduced menu disturbtion.

Internet Explorer is outdated. This site looks better in Phoenix. Is that what this page is about? I am excited about this Wiki because it seems to be eaily styled. I will let you know how it goes.

If anyone has an idea on how to do a nice page layou, that works without images and does not look like 'coded' with MS Frontpage but makes sense when viewed in a text editor, and additionally is lightweight, this could not only make it into the tarball but also onto this demo site.
